The Taipan Superslim 13″ is specifically designed to carry a 13 inch MacBook Pro (retina). At first glance the Taipan looks more like a sleeve than a brief as it is so compact and minimal. Booq have included an expandable compartment which slightly increases the amount of storage space available, although it doesn’t make a massive difference.

The exterior is made from nylon which looks very smart making it the perfect choice for your everyday commuter or even to use when travelling on business. The design is very simple and the black/silver crosshatch pattern wraps the entire bag.

Booq Expandable Compartment

The main compartment designed to hold your MacBook is located in the middle of the brief where it would receive the most protection against any knocks or drops. On opening up the pocket you’ll see that it’s lined with a soft material for extra protection but also to ensure your device remains scratch-free.

There is also a back pocket which is pretty much the whole size of the bag. This doesn’t have a zip on however and therefore we’d recommend using it for items such as folders, paperwork etc.

On the front there is another pocket, this time with a zipper, although it’s slightly smaller than the one located on the back. We found it useful to store loose items such as your keys using the integrated key loop inside the pocket.

Lastly there is another pocket located on the front, next to where you store your MacBook. Inside the pocket you’ll find a couple of small compartments which can be used to store various items. One of them even has a microfiber cloth stitched inside so you can wipe down your devices screens before using them. This pocket was perfect for carrying a smartphone, wallet, stationary and even a tablet.

Booq Side View

In terms of usability I don’t think the Taipan Superslim is likely to replace a full sized-backpack as there just isn’t enough room for everything. If all you need for the day is your MacBook and few small items then it maybe your perfect companion, but don’t expect to be packing your lunch into this.

Booq also supplies you with a removable shoulder strap which when attached converts it from a handheld brief to one that you can now carry on your shoulder. Along with this you’ll also receive six interchangeable zipper pullers so you can customise your bag.

Despite being superslim, the Booq Taipan Superslim offers a great deal of protection, the brief in general has been made to a very high standard. As mentioned before it won’t be replacing your regular backpack just yet, but if you happen to travel light then it’s definitely worth a look at!

The bag will set you back just over £60 on Amazon at the time of writing – follow the link below to take a look.
