Jailbreak iOS10 Featured

As you may have heard a jailbreak has been released for iOS 10, 10.1 and 10.1.1. In this step-by-step guide I will show you how you can go about jailbreaking your device.

There are a few things to note, however, before you get going! Only certain devices/firmware versions are supported by the jailbreak and therefore you need to check that you are fully compatible before continuing.

The jailbreak is also semi-untethered which means you will have to put it back into its jailbroken state after each reboot. This is a beta release and therefore bugs are to be expected during its use.

Pre-Requisites

  • iPhone 7/7Plus running iOS 10.1 or iOS 10.1.1 | iPhone 6s/6sPlus running iOS 10.0.1-10.1.1 | iPad Pro running iOS 10.0.1-10.1.1
  • Jailbreak IPA file [Recommend Beta3 file] (credit: Luca Todesco) – Download Here
  • Cydia Impactor – download from cydiaimpactor.com
  • A free or developer Apple ID
  • Latest version of iTunes
  • A computer running Windows or macOS.

Jailbreak Process

Step 1: Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable.

Step 2: Ensure you run a full backup of your device using iTunes to ensure all of your data is safe before jailbreaking.

Step 3: Disable any passcode / Touch ID on your device AND Find My iPhone.

Step 4: Open up Cydia Impactor on your computer.

Step 5: Drag and Drop the jailbreak IPA onto Cydia Impactor.

Step 6: When a popup appears, enter your Apple ID.

Step 7: Wait while Cydia Impactor installs the jailbreak app onto your device.

Step 8: Once completed, disconnect your device from the computer and head to
Settings > General > Profile(s) & Device Management or General > Device Management. Tap on the certificate with your Apple ID and hit Trust.

Step 9: On your device launch the “mach_portal” app. You will see a white screen, and then the app will close itself. You should now see Cydia on your Home Screen.
(Note: if you don’t see cydia keep opening the ‘mach_portal’ app until cydia appears. You can also try rebooting your device)

Step 10: CONGRATULATIONS – You have now jailbroken your device.

This is a semi-untethered jailbreak and therefore you will have to re-open the mach_portal and re-jailbreak your device after every reboot.

Also if you used a free Apple ID to install the jailbreak, then it will expire after 7 days. To re-jailbreak, follow the tutorial from Step 4 on-wards.
