Revered DJ, producer and label head Martin Buttrich has teamed up with respected British audio brand Ruark for a limited edition run of Martin Buttrich branded MR1 Bluetooth speakers.
Martin is an expert in sound technology; when people say “Martin Buttrich’s music sounds amazing”, they’re not just talking about the catchiness of his compositions or the way he manipulates beats into unique tapestries. His skills with a sonic scalpel – that esoteric ability to navigate the spectrum of audible (and inaudible) frequencies – have given him cachet among sound engineers. An incredible work ethic combined with a flexible, curious, and humorous approach have made him one of the go-to names within the dance music community for co-writing, production and collaborative projects.
The award-winning speakers feature class-leading sound quality, wireless audio streaming from Bluetooth devices with aptX technology for CD quality audio, subwoofer output and come with a compact remote control, whilst the luxurious hand-crafted wood enclosure design will feature Martin’s name on the side.
Martin explained why he wanted to be a part of this speaker model:
“When I first plugged into these Ruark Audio MR1s I was astonished at what I heard! A friend had suggested I try them out and I was completely blown away that this small speaker sounded so clear and precise. They are built with a quality level that demands they belong in a professional studio and have Martin Buttrich teams up with Ruark Audio on limited edition speakers become something I rely on as an extra pair of reference speakers for the music I create. Their size and weight is perfect for when you’re on the road and want to continue to be productive, with a familiar reference. With all my travelling it allows me to continue by studio work from a hotel, house, apartment and beyond.”
Famously as fluent behind a mixing console as in front of a virtual drum kit, Buttrich combines technical prowess with a fascination for music of every shape, resulting in outstanding releases on legendary labels such as Planet E, Four:Twenty, Cocoon, Poker Flat, Nervous, Desolat and his own label Rhythm Assault. Flipping and puncturing grooves in a live setting is a snap for him, and he’s entranced audiences at festivals like Time Warp and Creamfields, at clubs such as Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), Cocoon (Frankfurt), Panorama Bar (Berlin), Amnesia (Ibiza) and at worldwide Desolat Experience parties with Loco Dice. On top of this, Martin has put his sonic thumbprint on many big ticket artists, notably receiving a Grammy nomination for a Tori Amos remix in 2003 as well as 100+ productions and remixes covering everyone from Madonna, Muse, Fatboy Slim, Bootsy Collins, Tom Jones, Kelis, Moloko, Depeche Mode and Placebo to Loco Dice, Timo Mass, Josh Wink, Green Velvet, Roger Sanchez, Tiga and Soul Clap.
2016 marks a momentous year for family-owned audio firm Ruark, as it celebrates three decades of passion for high fidelity and beautiful design. In 1986 it started out manufacturing world-class high-end loudspeakers for hi-fi enthusiasts; today it applies those same high quality principles to design and engineer a new generation of perfectly formed, luxury sound systems. It is these brand credentials – combined with Ruark’s own love of music – that makes the synergy between the firm and Martin so credible.
