Yes you heard that correctly, Amazon is testing unmanned drones to deliver their products to customers doorsteps. The company say that the drones can carry packages with a weight of up to 5 pounds (2.3KG) which accounts for 86% of the items Amazon deliver.

Amazon posted a video of the new service called ‘Prime Air’ on their website and although it looks like something you would see in a sci-fi movie they assure us that this is very real. They even go on to say that one day seeing prime air vehicles flying around the skies will be as normal as seeing your mail vans on the road today, which we believe might well be true.

If your hoping to get your Christmas presents delivered by drone this year then unfortunately you may be a little disappointed, as they are still waiting for the FAA’s necessary rules and regulations on unmanned drones. They believe these could be in place as early as sometime in 2015.
